What is a One Rep Max (1RM)?

Your One Rep Max (1RM) is the maximum amount of weight you can lift for a single repetition of a given exercise. It's the gold standard for measuring pure strength and is used to calculate training percentages for structured programs.

Why calculate it instead of testing it?

True 1RM testing is incredibly taxing on the central nervous system and carries a higher risk of injury, especially for beginners. By using an estimation formula (like the Epley formula used here), you can find a highly accurate max based on a safer 3-5 rep set.
